Sustainability & Fair Trade

We espouse for full circle sustainability by managing our supply chain from the raw material resources to manpower supply.

Abaca plants are grown by the Higaonon tribe living in the mountains of Claveria, Misamis Oriental and Malitbog, Bukidnon. Natural methods of growing abaca are implemented to prevent damage to the environment. Fair trade practices are adopted in the determination of price structure and purchase price of abaca per kilogram. We work in coordination with the Land Care of the Phil Foundation, Inc. who is responsible for nurturing the abaca growers through technical assistance and community organization.

For the manpower supply, we tap both the rural and urban poor for employment opportunities and micro-enterprise development. We coordinate closely with the Mindanao Socio-Economic Development Foundation for the administration of capacity building, training programs and implementation of Corporate Social Responsibilty (CSR) programs.

We, at the CDO Handmade Paper Crafts, act as the entrepreneurial force that generates wealth and thus share its bounties to everyone in the supply chain while emulating fair trade practices as its heart and soul.
